The National Investigation Agency has attached two immovable properties in Amritsar belonging to accused Anwar Masih as part of its investigation into the six-year-old Salaya heroin seizure case. The agency said the attachment proceedings were carried out on Thursday.
The case concerns the seizure of 500 kilograms of heroin that investigators say was smuggled from Pakistan to India by sea. The property action forms part of the continuing financial and operational investigation rather than a separate criminal case.
According to the NIA, its inquiry has linked Masih to an alleged transnational narco-terror network extending across Italy, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Iran and Pakistan. The agency alleges that the network distributed narcotics and channelled proceeds towards activities connected with Lashkar-e-Taiba.
