Mule accounts are bank accounts used, with or without the knowledge of the account holders, to receive and transfer money illegally obtained by cybercriminals. The Keralam Police have urged the public to strictly follow safety precautions and never share bank account details or personal information with strangers. If anyone offers a commission or payment in return for conducting financial transactions through a personal bank account, the matter should immediately be reported to the nearest police station or the cybercrime helpline. The Police warned that account holders bear full responsibility for transactions carried out through their bank accounts and urged the public to treat bank accounts as private financial assets and use them responsibly.
