Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned sine die after a Monsoon Session that held 19 sittings over 25 days. The Rajya Sabha chairman said the House nevertheless completed its core legislative duty by passing or returning 12 Bills.
The measures cleared during the session included amendments dealing with unfair means in public examinations and insults to national honour, alongside the Tribunals Reforms Bill, changes to taxation laws, amendments concerning the National Co-operative Development Corporation and the Kerala name-alteration Bill.
Parliament sent the Foreign Contribution Regulation amendment to a Joint Parliamentary Committee for closer examination. The stated purpose of the proposal is to make the receipt and use of foreign contributions more transparent and accountable before the measure returns for further consideration.
Proceedings were repeatedly interrupted by disputes over the NEET paper leak, alleged police action against protesting students and claims concerning donations to the Ayodhya Ram temple. Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan said that the House worked for 37 hours and 49 minutes, producing a session productivity figure of 39.17 per cent.
