Veteran actor Nikki Walia recently spoke about her decision to leave the Bollywood industry for television, revealing that the toxic culture within the film industry was a significant factor in her choice.
Walia elaborated on her experience, saying, 'The industry used to demand stupid things from women at that time, moreover people used to talk in a rude manner.'.
She further explained, 'Arey tu kya, arey yeh kya…'—woh bahut shocking tha.
Walia added, 'Women ko objectify karna, ‘Arey woh aayegi, bulao…’ is tarah se baat karna.
She shared, 'Aur main yeh sab sun rahi thi, un logon ke aas-paas baithi thi.
Walia, who had achieved massive success and fame after transitioning to television, explained that her decision to switch left everyone shocked and led to several rumours.
She stepped away from Bollywood in the early 1990s, after starring in films like Azaad (1994), Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995), and Pardesi Babu (1998).
