Sixteen Indian boxers advanced to the finals of the Asian under-19 and under-23 boxing championships across the women's and men's draws.
Eight Indian boxers reached the finals in the under-19 women's category. Gunjan secured her place in the 45-50kg division, contributing to the largest group of Indian finalists reported from the day's competition.
Five more finalists came from the under-23 women's event. Nisha defeated South Korea's Hyeju Lee in the 54kg category, while Nikita Chand overcame Japan's Sarii Kokufu at 60kg.
Kajal advanced in the 65kg division after beating Kyrgyzstan's Gulzina Melsvek. In the heavier categories, Muskan recorded a 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan's Toirova Oysha at 75kg, and Priyanka won 5-0 against Kazakhstan's Panar Seiitkhankyzy in the over-80kg contest.
India also placed three boxers in the under-23 men's finals. Vishvanath Suresh produced a unanimous 5-0 result in the 50kg category against an opponent from the Philippines.
Ganga progressed from the 55kg semifinal through a 3-2 split decision against Japan. Vanshaj completed the men's group by earning a 4-1 win over a boxer from Kyrgyzstan in the 65kg division.
The results give India finalists in a broad range of weights rather than concentrating the challenge in one part of the programme. The 5-0 decisions indicate agreement across all scoring judges, while the 3-2 result reflects a closely divided panel.
Reaching the final guarantees each of the 16 boxers a place in the medal stage, but the title outcomes will depend on their final bouts. The immediate focus now shifts from qualification to converting the large finalist contingent into championship wins.
India's 16 finalists are split evenly between eight under-19 women and eight under-23 boxers. The older group comprises five women and three men.
